Good Girl Gone Bad

You’re reading the words of a bonafide good girl.  A curfew-keeping, skin-covering, momma-respecting, rule-loving lady of the law.  I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket, I regularly use crosswalks, and I was a pioneer of the “within the lines” artistic movement during my kindergarten stint as a coloring book virtuoso.  Needless to say, I’ve never had a rebellious phase.

Well, much like an upstate New York winter, my break from convention was inevitable.  Though once an Abercrombie & Fitch prepster in blue blooded sapphire polos, I’ve developed a taste for studs, leather and a dose of (dare I say it?) sexiness in my dress.  I’m on the verge of a style revolution that would surely cause the imaginary country clubs I might have joined in my teens to revoke my golf course privileges.

That’s why I’m enamored with this editorial from Cosmopolitan‘s September 2012 issue.  Model Terese Pagh Teglgaard completely embodies the style I’m craving – a touch of edge mixed with a distinctly feminine romance strokes the ego of my inner bad girl while still honoring the person I’ve always been.  While I doubt I’ll ever completely abandon the goodie two shoes inside, don’t be surprised if you hear this rebel yell.

  1. Love this post! I gotta say, I think I’ve secretly wanted to rock the leather pants or even skirt but haven’t been daring enough to try! Nor would I know where I would even wear it..hah but maybe it’s time for something new in my simple and usual textured wardrobe ;)

  2. I love this post–I’m the same exactly way…a good girl through and through. That being said, it’s fun to indulge a little “bad” side every once in a while, especially with fashion. These looks are awesome!

  3. Oh my god – are you my long lost twin? Seriously, the WORST thing I have ever done in my life happened in elementary school: I sat in the middle of the street with my friend to piss off the crossing guard. Yeah, that actually happened, and it’s the most depressing “bad thing” story ever. I too am trying to embrace the sexy/edgy trends though while still maintaining my good girl roots. Loved this post so much!
